an intimate, rainy, northwoods wedding
Updated: Jun 13, 2020
Sierra and Tim planned their Tomahawk (way up nort!) wedding from sunny Florida. They knew they wanted to have a small ceremony and party on Sierra's family property, and so they did.
You want it? You got it! That's what we (and young mc) always say!
This wedding was a DIY masterpiece - I was the only vendor except for their officiant.
Sierra's family and friends really showed their support by stepping in to help, and it added a really sweet depth to their day. Her dress is BHLDN.
I love that nature gave these two a day to truly remember. The overcast and rain, the first changing colors of fall.....not what a couple of Floridians are used to, but still dreamy af.
The rain began a few minutes before the ceremony, leaving us all to scramble. Umbrellas and paper towels were thrown around while I make-shifted some rain protection for my camera. Most DSLRs are water-resistant now....but this wasn't just a sprinkle. It was turning into a full on downpour, and it couldn't have been more beautiful.
Call me crazy, but I love the chaos of wedding days. I love not knowing what is going to happen and having to be ready for it all. I feel like that is an important part of my job - anticipating so that you don't have to stress.
As they were walking off the pier, Sierra's dad shouted to look up , where the clouds were parting and the sun was making its first appearance of the day. Can't make this stuff up, ya'll. It was so perfect.
The rest of the day was a simple, casual celebration with the people they care about most. Dad grilled, as dads do, and the kids fished and played by the water while S & T just basked in the L O V E. Oh, and fireworks! Make sure you scroll to see the fireworks!
See what kind of magic can happen at a small, DIY wedding? Make it what YOU want, hire a killer photographer (hayyyy), and then go with the flow, baby!
